There are two
main charities working for the preservation of Chichester Harbour, The
Chichester Harbour Trust and The Friends of Chichester Harbour.
The two act in harmony but have distinctly different objectives. In
brief these are:
The Chichester Harbour Trust exists to conserve, protect and improve the
natural beauty and wildlife of the area for the public benefit by
acquiring land, sites and buildings within the Chichester Harbour Area
of Outstanding Natural Beauty and its setting.
The Friends of Chichester Harbour provide weekly working parties of
volunteers directed by Harbour Conservancy Rangers and fund
conservation, amenity and education projects in cooperation with the
Harbour Conservancy. Their website
www.friendsch.org gives further
details.
