Maybush Copse, Chidham Grassy areas opened with a big picnic

Although most of Maybush Copse has been open to the public for over a year, the areas of grassland in the centre of the site have remained cordoned off to allow the turf to get established.

At long last the grass a special slow-growing variety; and even slower than we expected! is making real progress and, despite the flood and drought of the last year, not to mention the rabbits, it finally appears to have taken hold.

So, on Sunday 2nd June  the grassy areas were opened at last. Stephen Johnson, chairman of Maybush Copse Friends cut the ribbon watched by John Nelson, chairman of the Chichester Harbour Trust, Nicky Horter from the Harbour Conservancy and many local residents who had come to enjoy a picnic on the site.

Picnickers continued to arrive throughout the sunny afternoon and were entertained with live music and games for the children.
